The Director of Finance is responsible for the strategic oversight and management of all financial operations for the residential treatment facility. This role ensures the fiscal health of the organization by providing accurate financial reporting, developing sustainable budgets, optimizing revenue cycles, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. The Director of Finance serves as a key member of the leadership team, providing strategic guidance to support the facility’s mission of delivering high-quality, person-centered care.
Essential Duties:
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Prepare and present timely, accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and monitor key financial performance indicators to ensure operational efficiency and fiscal sustainability.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads, ensuring alignment with strategic and operational goals.
- Provide accurate financial forecasts to guide resource allocation and organizational planning.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality of care.
Regulatory Compliance & Auditing
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations, including Medicaid/Medicare and private insurance billing requirements.
- Oversee preparation for annual audits and act as primary liaison with external auditors.
- Maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity.
Revenue Cycle Management
- Optimize billing, collections, and reimbursement processes to maximize revenue.
- Monitor payer contracts and ensure accurate coding and documentation for services provided.
- Resolve payment disputes and work closely with clinical and administrative teams to improve billing accuracy.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide financial training and guidance to department managers to enhance budget management skills.
- Collaborate with leadership on strategic initiatives, expansion plans, and capital projects.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise finance department staff.
Job Requirements
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
• Must have basic PC skills that include a combination of working in a Windows Operating System and Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and the ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Master’s degree or CPA preferred.
• Minimum 5–7 years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in healthcare, behavioral health, or residential treatment settings.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, healthcare reimbursement models, and nonprofit accounting.
• Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills with the ability to translate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
• Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with EHR systems is a plus.

· Perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers. Individual must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and to be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
· Work requires a minimum standard of visual acuity with or without correction that will enable people in the role to complete administrative and clerical tasks, as well as inspect and analyze.
· Must be able to work and concentrate amidst distractions such as noise, conversation, and foot traffic; ability to handle interruptions often and be able to move from one task to another.
· While worker may possibly be subjected to temperature changes, the worker is generally not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions as the work is predominantly inside.
