About the role…
McArthur is partnering with the City of Prospect to recruit an experienced and motivated Communications Officer to support a significant infrastructure and lifestyle precinct project.
This new, fixed-term part‑time position (0.6 FTE) has been created to manage communications and community engagement for a high‑profile project that will enhance local spaces and community connection. You will work closely with the Communications, Strategy and Engagement team to ensure residents, businesses, and stakeholders are kept informed and engaged throughout the project's delivery.
What you will do……
This is a hands‑on and varied position, suited to someone who enjoys working across multiple communication channels and engaging directly with the community.
- Coordinating all project‑related communications and community inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
- Implementing the project's Communications Plan, ensuring regular updates and milestone announcements.
- Writing and producing content for digital platforms, media releases, newsletters, and community updates.
- Managing media inquiries and preparing responses and statements.
- Supporting community engagement activities and events alongside the Community Engagement Officer.
- Coordinating photography, videography, and creative assets to showcase project progress.
- Maintaining website and intranet content (experience with Squiz Matrix CMS is an advantage).
The position reports to the Manager Communications, Strategy and Engagement and works collaboratively with internal teams, elected members, and community partners.
To be successful in the role you will have…
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience managing social media channels, media relations, or public inquiries.
- Strong political acumen and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work within defined timeframes.
- A collaborative approach and attention to detail.
- Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Journalism, Social Studies or a related field.
- Previous experience supporting communications for development, infrastructure, or community projects will be highly regarded.
- Experience in photography, videography, graphic design, or Adobe Creative Suite is desirable.
