This is a permanent part-time (0.4FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2026
The Role
As a Primary Mainstream Education Assistant, you will assist in the delivery of planned education programs that will help in the development of young minds. In this role, you would collaborate and work in a team environment. Education Assistants will ideally possess good written, oral and interpersonal communication skills to enable the implementation of individual or small group programs, as well as the ability to support the general health and well-being of students. You will ideally be organised and be able to use your initiative to assist with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment.
Working under teacher direction in a diverse role, you would also provide support to ensure the learning environment is inclusive and relevant with the health and safety of students being a high priority. Managing student behaviour in accordance with school policies and programs is an important aspect of this role.
School of Isolated and Distance Education
The School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE) is the main centre for Kindergarten to Year 12 distance education and online learning. It provides quality education for students who for various reasons cannot attend classes in a mainstream school.
As a recognised leader in blended education in Australia, SIDE models exemplary practice in the use of both synchronous (Webex) and asynchronous (Moodle) platforms of instruction. SIDE has a dedicated training and support program for staff who join our school. Our practice is both contemporary and constantly evolving, making SIDE an exciting and dynamic place to work.
