Liverpool City Council, Australia Peak Management and Consulting Full time

Overview

At Peak Management and Consulting, we partner with registered training organisations (RTOs) across Australia to deliver tailored management, compliance, and shared services that simplify operations and drive success. We’ve supported both domestic and international student-focused RTOs with ethical, bold, and client-centric solutions — and now, we’re looking for a Financial Accountant who shares our passion for building better business.

As the Financial Accountant, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our financial operations running smoothly and accurately. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you’ll be hands-on with the day-to-day accounting, month-end close, strategic projects and compliance activities that underpin our rapid growth. You’ll bring technical expertise and a proactive mindset to ensure our financial reporting is timely, reliable, and adds value to business decisions. Beyond core accounting, you’ll have the opportunity to implement process improvements, leverage technology to drive efficiencies, and collaborate with teams across the business to support operational and strategic initiatives.

Key responsibilities

- Own the day-to-day financial accounting and month end processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting
- Prepare and post journals, reconciliations and adjustments across key accounts
- Assist with preparation of monthly management reports and variance analysis to support business decisions
- Ensure compliance with all tax, BAS, payroll tax and statutory obligations
- Identify inefficiencies, implement automation tools and enhance financial controls and operations using technology where appropriate to our growth
- Engage with non-finance teams to streamline financial processes, support cash management and provide other financial insights
- Contribute to building a high-performance finance function that is proactive and value-adding to the overall business

Essential skills and experience

- A degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline (CA or CPA)
- Strong experience in financial reporting, reconciliations and analysis
- Familiarity with financial systems like NetSuite or Employment Hero
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including external auditors and RTO clients
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with excellent time management
- A high level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Prior experience in or understanding of the RTO/VET sector (highly desirable)

If you’re a finance professional looking to make a meaningful difference in the education and consulting space, apply now with your updated resume and a short cover letter.

Let’s build better business — together
