Role: Agricultural Consultant

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Agricultural Consultant to join our growing team. The Agricultural Consultant will provide expert agronomic services and technical advice to clients to improve productivity, sustainability and profitability. This includes the development and delivery of tailored input programs through diagnostics and data analysis, supporting growers with decision-making across soil management, livestock and crop health, regenerative systems and carbon strategies. The role involves a high level of client engagement, on-farm consultations and close collaboration with internal teams. You will work closely with senior agronomists to provide professional consulting services and contribute to ongoing research, product development and farmer education initiatives.

Salary

Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 p.a, plus superannuation payments

Responsibilities

- Provide advice to farmers and agricultural enterprises on sustainable production techniques, pest and disease control, nutrient management and soil improvement strategies.
- Collect, analyse and interpret field data, including plant tissue, sap, water and soil samples, to provide informed agronomic recommendations.
- Apply Ferti-Tech’s Carbon Systems Agronomy (CSA) framework to design custom nutrient and soil enhancement programs based on thorough diagnostics.
- Conduct on-farm visits to assess crop and soil health, livestock conditions and overall farm performance, offering strategies for optimisation.
- Provide specialist advice in relation to animal and crop production to help improve land use efficiency, productivity, and overall sustainability.
- Support development, implementation and monitoring of on-farm trials for new products and cultivation techniques.
- Identify emerging risks and propose innovative farm management practices to address climate resilience and changing environmental factors.
- Interpret laboratory results and prepare detailed agronomic reports including charts, data summaries and trend analysis relating to agronomic field trials, product performance and regional growing conditions.
- Research and evaluate environmental and climatic impacts on crop production, pasture systems and livestock nutrition.
- Assist clients in managing biosecurity risks, responding to drought, erosion, and extreme weather impacts.
- Develop plans for improved crop rotation, irrigation, land-use strategies and integrated farm management.
- Advise on livestock nutrition, animal husbandry and feeding programs.
- Participate in product development and contribute to improving existing formulations and delivery systems.
- Offer ongoing support on fertiliser inputs, crop planning, rotational strategies, and AMSR-compliant advice for long-term farm improvement.
- Work collaboratively with the senior agronomist and sales team to identify new market opportunities and build strong client relationships.
- Facilitate grower workshops, technical training events and trial plot demonstrations to build knowledge and adoption of best practice systems.
- Contribute to sustainability initiatives and strategies to promote regenerative agricultural practices.
- Represent Ferti-Tech at regional field days, conferences and client meetings, raising the profile of our brand and services.
- Maintain accurate records, support inventory management and uphold regulatory compliance standards.

Requirements

- The ideal candidate must be passionate about sustainable agriculture and committed to helping growers achieve long-term productivity.
- A collaborative and solutions-oriented mindset is essential
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- A valid driver’s licence is required.
- Experience with fieldwork, data collection, or client-facing roles is desirable.
- Familiarity with agricultural software, reporting tools or laboratory systems is an advantage.

Qualifications & Experience

- Qualifications Required: A relevant AQF equivalent Bachelor degree, or higher, qualification
- Work Experience required: A minimum of 3 years of relevant, full-time, work experience
