The Environmental Offsets – Planning, Monitoring and Research team is looking for an experienced officer with excellent organization and communication skills, who can report on and contribute to strategic planning for ACT environmental offsets.

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director, Environmental Offsets, the Program Officer is tasked with monitoring the conditions of approval for sites under Parks and Conservation Services (PCS) responsibility and liaising with internal and external stakeholders to effectively deliver offset commitments. The position is required to provide written and verbal advice based on stakeholder input, research and monitoring outcomes, guidelines, legislation, and policy decisions. This includes the ability to work independently to initiate plan, manage, and deliver complex projects with multiple stakeholders.

Eligibility / Other Requirements

- Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Working with vulnerable people (WWVP) registration (act.gov.au)

Desirable

- Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Public Policy, Environmental Law, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resource Management or other relevant fields

- Willingness to undertake incident management duties, including participation in fire standby, fire suppression and fire training.

Notes

This is a temporary position available from 01 November 2025 until 30 June 2026 with the possibility of extension up to 12 months.

A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
