About the Position
We are seeking a talented Chef to join our dynamic team at Jake & the Beans Talk, where you’ll play a pivotal role in crafting memorable dining experiences. Reporting to the Head Chef, you will prepare and present innovative dishes that reflect our globally inspired menu, while ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance with food safety standards. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for culinary excellence, collaborating with kitchen and front-of-house teams to deliver exceptional service, and contributing creative ideas to keep our offerings fresh and exciting.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in planning menus, determining food quantities, and managing costs to align with business goals.
Prepare and cook dishes according to recipes or personal expertise, ensuring high-quality presentation.
Monitor food quality and presentation to uphold Jake & the Beans Talk’s standards.
Manage and train Cooks and Kitchenhands in food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety practices.
Order and maintain inventory of food and kitchen supplies to meet daily production needs.
Collaborate with management to develop new dishes and refine existing recipes.
Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless and efficient food service.
Ensure strict compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen.
Requirements
Australian citizens and permanent residents are strongly encouraged to apply.
Certificate IV in Kitchen Management and a Diploma in a relevant field.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a professional kitchen environment.
Strong technical skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and inventory management.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including effective communication, teamwork, and the ability to train and motivate kitchen staff.
Creative problem-solving and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic kitchen.
