We’re currently recruiting for Branch Lead roles at our Balwyn and Kew Libraries —two unique opportunities to shape the future of library services in vibrant community settings.
If you're an enthusiastic, customer-focused leader ready to take on a dynamic role in our busiest library (Balwyn) or at a site undergoing a significant refurbishment (Kew), we’d love to hear from you.
A little bit about the role
Our six libraries are in demand with over 2 million loans, 970,000 visits, 38,000 attendees at programs and 81,000 enquiries in 2024/25.
As a Branch Lead, you’ll oversee the operations of Balwyn or Kew Library, ensuring services meet the diverse needs of the Boroondara community. It’s a busy role and you’ll lead a dedicated team, champion high-quality library services and digital offerings, and contribute to partnerships that extend the library’s reach and impact. In addition to this you will:
- Deliver contemporary library services that support recreation, culture, education, and information access
- Lead and develop staff to foster a collaborative and high-performing team
- Build and maintain internal and external networks
- Contribute to strategic projects and service improvements
- Support community engagement and lifelong learning initiatives
A little bit about you
You’re a dynamic and experienced professional with a passion for libraries and community service, and will bring:
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- A commitment to continuous improvement and innovation
- The ability to build meaningful relationships across teams and with the community
- Experience in delivering high-quality services—library experience is highly desirable but not essential
Employment Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in library and information science or relevant experience, is advantageous.
- National Police Record Check and valid Working with Children Clearance required.
