About the role
Relationships Australia Queensland (RAQ) is seeking a compassionate and skilled Domestic and Family Violence Worker to join our dedicated team. This role provides a meaningful opportunity to create safer families and communities by working directly with perpetrators of domestic and family violence to support behavioural change and accountability.
In this role, you will deliver group work and individual counselling that promotes safety, responsibility, and respect within relationships. You will also contribute to community education initiatives designed to increase awareness of domestic and family violence and its impacts.
Additionally, you will:
- Assess client suitability for participation in group programs and provide ongoing case management.
- Facilitate men’s behaviour change groups and deliver individual counselling consistent with program guidelines and best practice.
- Encourage accountability and assist clients to take responsibility for their actions.
- Provide information about protection orders, legal processes, and referral pathways.
- Collaborate closely with police, courts, and community organisations to strengthen coordinated responses to domestic and family violence.
- Work in partnership with Indigenous mentors and co-facilitators to ensure culturally safe and inclusive service delivery.
- Support community education programs that increase awareness and promote prevention of domestic and family violence.
About you
You are an empathetic, professional, and motivated individual with a strong commitment to promoting safety, respect, and accountability. You thrive in a collaborative environment, have excellent communication skills, and bring a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach to your work.
Additionally, you have:
- Tertiary qualifications in social or behavioural sciences (or similar discipline).
- Experience supporting clients in crisis situations and working within a domestic and family violence framework.
- Proven experience facilitating group programs and applying adult learning principles.
- Knowledge of the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act and related legislation.
- Ability to engage respectfully with clients from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with partner agencies and community networks.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to maintain accurate case files and documentation.

The salary is being offered between $87,000 to $102,000.00 per annum, to be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation.
