Location: Toorak, VIC. This opportunity is part-time (FTE 0.40) fixed term, for the 2026 academic year, reporting to the Head of Languages.

About the Role

An enthusiastic and experienced Chinese Teacher is sought to join the school community for the 2026 academic year. The successful candidate will deliver an engaging and innovative Chinese curriculum in the Senior School.

Requirements include current VIT Registration and previous experience teaching Chinese across the Senior School (essential). Experience in delivering VCE Chinese is advantageous, as is a strong knowledge of the Australian Curriculum imperatives as they impact LOTE. The role requires the ability to use a variety of teaching strategies to address different learning styles, effective assessment approaches, strong classroom management, and excellent ICT skills to support teaching, learning, and administration. Collaboration and contribution to a team environment, strong interpersonal skills, resilience, initiative, and highly developed organizational skills are also expected. The role also requires upholding the ethos and values of the School.

Qualifications

- Current VIT Registration.
- Previous experience teaching Chinese across Senior School (essential).
- Experience in delivering VCE Chinese is advantageous.
- Expert knowledge of content area with a willingness to continue developing knowledge and skills.
- Knowledge of Australian Curriculum imperatives as they impact LOTE.
- Ability to impart to students a love of learning of the Chinese language, literature, and culture.
- Ability to use a variety of teaching strategies for different learning styles.
- Excellent use of assessment strategies.
- Well-developed classroom management skills.
- Excellent ICT skills to support teaching and administration.
- Ability to work productively in a team; strong interpersonal skills.
- Personal resilience, proactivity, and initiative.
- Highly developed organizational skills.
- Commitment to upholding the ethos and values of the School.
