The Executive Director of Catholic Education Western Australia Limited (CEWA) invites applications for the Principalship role at Orana Catholic Primary School based in Willetton commencing 1 January 2025.
School Profile
Orana Catholic Primary School is a coeducational Catholic school for students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year Six, with approximately 450 enrolments. Established in 1980 by the Loreto Order, the name Orana, a First Nations word meaning Welcome, and the motto To Give is to Receive reflect the school’s inclusive and community-focused ethos.
The school embraces a diverse multicultural population and is guided by the values of Connect, Engage and Challenge. Orana provides a child-focused, holistic education that nurtures students spiritually, physically, socially, emotionally, and academically. Staff are committed to best practice, collaboration, and high expectations to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
With a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy, Orana offers specialist programs in Digital Technology, Auslan, Music, Physical Education, and Science. Catholic Identity
- Demonstrates strong personal faith and Catholic values by modelling Catholic identity as a lived expression, fostering rituals, practices, evangelisation, and active participation in parish life, liturgies, sacramental celebrations, and whole-school faith events.
- Provides compassionate and inclusive leadership through the effective implementation of the Religious Education Curriculum, prioritising the holistic development of students and building strong, collaborative partnerships with staff, families, parish, and the wider community.
Education
- Demonstrates strong knowledge of contemporary, evidence-based teaching practices and child development to lead whole-school curriculum planning and delivery.
- Creates a culture where all students can achieve and celebrate growth prioritising differentiation, early childhood learning, and tailored support for diverse learners, including those with learning disorders or neurodivergence.
Community
- Demonstrates a visible presence within the school community, building genuine connections with students, staff, and parents while prioritising student and staff wellbeing.
- Maintains positive and professional relationships with families and engages parents in the life of the school through P&F and school initiatives.
Stewardship
- Ensures safe, well-maintained facilities and manages finances with long-term planning, to support enrolment growth, and promoting the school to the wider community.
- Leads sustainability initiatives that embed awareness, education, and action, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources and the environment.
- Creates a Christ-centred, supportive environment where staff feel valued and empowered, investing in wellbeing, professional learning, and leadership capacity to strengthen teaching and student outcomes.
Selection Criteria:
- Practising Catholic and experienced educator committed to Catholic Education.
- Accredited for Leadership of a Catholic School Community or equivalent.
- A collaborative and future-focused leader who understands and supports the strategic priorities of the broader Catholic Education system.
- A relevant Master’s degree (or working towards completion) with the ability to apply advanced leadership and management principles to both the day-to-day and long-term leadership of a school is highly desirable.
- Current Teachers Registration for Western Australia (TRBWA).
- Current WA Working with Children Check (WA WWCC).
