Group General Manager | Materials Processing

Talexon is a specialist recruitment and executive search firm proudly based in Australia. We are partnering with a respected national leader in mining services to appoint a strategic Group General Manager.
The organisation combines a strong product-supply capability with an extensive field‑services network supporting clients across the mining, mineral‑processing, and heavy industrial sectors. With 500+ employees across Australia, the business is known for its commitment to safety, engineering excellence, and long‑term customer partnerships.
This is a senior executive leadership role responsible for the strategic, financial, and operational performance of the business. The position provides leadership across operations, finance and commercial, sales, health and safety, and people and culture, ensuring alignment and collaboration across all functions to drive sustainable growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic and operational plans aligned with corporate objectives
- Lead and support a high‑performing leadership team across multiple divisions and sites
- Oversee financial performance, budgeting, and commercial outcomes
- Ensure safe, high‑quality, and efficient delivery of services and products
- Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction
- Promote a strong culture of accountability, teamwork, and safety
- Represent the business in key industry and customer engagements
Authority and Decision‑Making
- Approval of divisional budgets and expenditures within delegated limits
- Final sign‑off on strategic initiatives, investments, and high‑value contracts
- Appointment and performance management of direct reports
- Implementation of corporate policies and strategies across the division
- Recommendation of major strategic and investment decisions to the Board
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related discipline
- 10‑15 years' experience in senior leadership roles within large, multi‑site or multi‑function organisations
- Proven record of managing operational and financial performance at a senior level
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of contract management
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead growth and organisational change
- Willingness to travel across Australia for operational and client needs
Desirable
- Background in mining, industrial services, or materials‑processing sectors
- MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification
