Regulatory & Government disputes lawyer – Special Counsel

Opportunity to join our fast growing government disputes team in this senior position.

About the team

In recent years we have successfully grown our presence across both State and Commonwealth government clients including our recent appointment on the Whole of Australian Government Legal Services Panel. In line with this our team of lawyers in this specialised area of practice has grown across our offices. We are now wishing to add another senior litigation lawyer to our Sydney team to work alongside our government clients.

The team have a wealth of experience including in Royal Commissions and other public inquiries, judicial and merits reviews and regulatory investigations.

About the role

The Sydney team are seeking an experienced disputes lawyer to join the team to play a vital role in leading and developing the team in this area. The team acts for government departments and agencies in a range of dispute resolution and litigation matters.

Given the seniority of the role you will have experience in running matters with a considerable level of autonomy and be comfortable and keen to develop and nurture juniors in the team.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have a depth of expertise as a litigator particularly working with clients in the public sector across dispute resolution and litigation, tort claims and administrative law matters such as judicial review and merits review, Royal commissions, inquiries and inquests and representing clients including government departments and agencies.

You will be looking for an opportunity to play a key role in the ongoing success and growth of the practice and as such you will have strong client relationship skills and a track record in business development.

We are particularly interested if you have a portfolio of clients that you are confident would follow you in making a move to our team.
