Adelaide, Australia City of Playford Full time

Payroll Officer

Fulltime / 18-Month Contract
Classification: GO4 ($92,291.26 + Superannuation)

Bring your attention to detail and passion for payroll accuracy to a collaborative and community-focused finance team.

As one of the fastest-growing council areas in South Australia, the City of Playford is focused on building sustainable foundations and places the community at the heart of everything we do. With our urban centre as the CBD of Northern Adelaide, our city is enriched by growing and diverse communities in new and established suburbs, rural townships, and horticultural lands.

About the Role

We’re seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Officer to join our team on an initial eighteen-month contract, with the possibility for extension based on business needs. Reporting to the Manager - Finance, you will be responsible for delivering timely, accurate and compliant end-to-end payroll services to employees across Council.

You will process fortnightly and one-off pays, maintain payroll systems and records, and provide expert support to internal stakeholders on payroll-related matters including EA and Award interpretation. You’ll also support payroll reporting, contribute to the improvement of payroll processes and systems, and play an active role in finance-related continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

You will bring proven experience in payroll operations, ideally within a government, not-for-profit or large commercial environment. With strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy, you can confidently manage end-to-end payroll processes and meet critical deadlines. Your ability to provide clear, professional advice on payroll matters and maintain confidentiality is key to your success in this role. You have strong skills in payroll systems and Microsoft Excel and ideally experience with Technology One.

Incumbents in this position are required to possess a National Criminal History Clearance.

If you're someone who thrives on getting the details right, enjoys working collaboratively, and wants to support an organisation that puts community first, we’d love to hear from you.

Submit your application by clicking the “Apply Now” button. Please include your resume and cover letter outlining your suitability. If you would like further information, please contact Janey Yang, Manager - Finance on (08) 8256 0211 for a confidential discussion.

Applications close at 12pm on Friday 10 October 2025.

The City of Playford values diversity and work life balance. If you require any reasonable adjustments to be made to support you in submitting your application including alternative vacancy formats and application options, please refer to the Manager's contact details above. Any information provided will be kept confidential and will only be used to support your access to fully participate in the recruitment process.
