AWM Clayton are looking for a confident and organised Purchasing Officer to manage supplier relationships, negotiate pricing, and support customer satisfaction through accurate and timely stock availability. You'll handle a mix of stocked lines, back orders, and custom one-off product requests—meaning no two days are the same.
Your Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end purchasing functions, including supplier negotiations and purchase order generation.
- Handle international procurement (India, Europe, China), including foreign currency and logistics coordination.
- Action back orders and source bespoke products for customer-specific needs.
- Liaise with trade counter staff, sales reps, and customers to align purchasing decisions with real-time demand.
- Ensure all purchasing complies with company policies and preferred supplier agreements.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Ideally, you will have purchasing/stock control experience in electrical, industrial, or trade-based environments.
- Ideally, have experience with Netstock (or similar) and comfort with demand forecasting.
- Strong understanding of international supply chains, logistics, and currency handling.
- Negotiation skills and a commercial mindset to secure best value from suppliers.
- Product knowledge in electrical and/or solar equipment is an advantage.
- Ability to work with pace and accuracy in a customer-driven business.
- A proactive and communicative team player who thrives in dynamic environments.
- Must be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia or New Zealand (sponsorship not available for this role).
