Associate Director Operational Preparedness

The Associate Director Operational Preparedness is a full-time position supporting the Director of Field Operations in leading operational preparedness across the organization, including Disaster Relief and Recovery Teams (DRRTs).

Key Accountabilities
  • Preparedness Support:
    • Assist DRRT Associate Directors in identifying skill gaps and areas for volunteer training and development.
    • Conduct audits of training activities using DRA dashboards.
    • Ensure equipment maintenance and safety documentation are up to date.
  • Operations Support:
    • Create and manage a register for all Short-Term Operations.
    • Support the identification of opportunities for Short-Term Operations.
    • Participate in planning, execution, and demobilization of operational tasks.
  • Operational Readiness Assessments:
    • Work with DRRT Associate Directors to ensure annual assessments of operational readiness, personnel, equipment, and training.
    • Develop criteria for assessments and support their execution.
  • DRA Training and Field Operations:
    • Collaborate with the Training team to prioritize operational training needs.
    • Support content development for operational skills training and SME courses.
  • DRA Capability and Field Operations:
    • Engage with Capability Development Teams to align on operational needs and capabilities.
    • Participate in discussions to advocate for field operations requirements and support capability integration.
Capabilities Required
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Adaptability, integrity, clear communication, teamwork, initiative, and previous Defence experience preferred.
  • Relationships:
    • Ability to build networks, collaborate, and understand diverse stakeholder needs.
  • Results and Business Enablers:
    • Knowledge of disaster management arrangements, decision-making in uncertain situations, resource management, and continuous improvement focus.
