Position Information

Oran Park High School, which opened at the start of the 2020 school year, is a future focused learning partnership with high expectations that meets the individual needs of all learners. Housed in brand new, state-of-the-art facilities, the school has a strong focus on relationships, high quality and innovative teaching and learning, and links to the local and wider community, particularly the partner primary schools Oran Park PS and Barramurra PS. Built to meet the population needs of the Oran Park/Catherine Park/Gledswood Hills growth corridor, the school will eventually be home to up to 2000 students, including a Support Unit catering for the needs of students with Autism and Multi-Categorical diagnoses. The school currently has 1605 students and approximately 160 teaching and support staff. 2024 saw its first Year 12 cohort sit for the HSC credential. The school has developed strong partnerships with many organisations including the Narellan Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG), Greenfields/Oran Park Town, Western Sydney University and the Australian Business and Community Network (ABCN). Oran Park High School has a commitment to its TRAK values of Teamwork, Respect, Achievement and Kindness.

This is the second of two Head Teacher PDHPE positions at the school.

Specific Selection Criteria

- Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position.

- Approval to teach and experience in teaching PDHPE (7–12) with a demonstrated commitment to professional growth and building the capacity of others within the faculty.

- Proven collaborative leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside the other substantive Head Teacher PDHPE to strengthen a cohesive and high-performing faculty.

- Demonstrated ability to lead curriculum innovation and professional learning that aligns with school priorities, current educational trends, and supports student wellbeing and achievement.

- Evidence of strong pedagogical leadership, promoting data-informed, evidence-driven and future-focused teaching and assessment practices that engage and support a diverse range of learners.

- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to build positive relationships across the school community and effectively manage sport and physical activity programs.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
