Plumber - Client Facility Coordinator
- Base Salary + Allowances + Overtime + Super + Power tools provided
- Full-time permanent position with flexible start/finish times and good work life balance
Are you a skilled Plumber ready for the next step in your career?
We're looking for an experienced Plumber who wants more than just day-to-day service calls. If you're ready to use your hands-on trade knowledge while stepping into a role that mixes technical work with project coordination, this is your opportunity.
In this role, you'll still be actively working on Plumbing systems, but you'll also be the key point of contact on-site - helping manage minor works, coordinate contractors, solve technical issues, and ensure facilities are performing at their best. If you've ever thought about diversifying your abilities into a coordination-based role but still love being on the tools, this is the best of both worlds.
Your Plumbing trade is the most important qualification. Experience in other non-licensed areas or small-scale project work is a bonus - but UQ will provide support and training to help you grow.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Deliver and coordinate plumbing maintenance, repairs, and minor works across the precinct.
- Act as the main client contact, managing requests and ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Supervise contractors, source quotes, and oversee works to meet safety, quality, budget and timeframes.
- Inspect and monitor building assets and systems, log jobs, and maintain accurate records.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and UQ safety requirements.
- Support continuous improvement and contribute to a safe, efficient facilities environment.
About UQ
As part of the UQ community, you will have the opportunity to work alongside the brightest minds, who have joined us from all over the world.
Everyone here has a role to play. As a member of our professional staff cohort, you will be actively involved in working towards our vision of a better world. By supporting the academic endeavour across teaching, research, and the student life, you will have the opportunity to contribute to activities that have a lasting impact on our community.
Join a community where excellence is at the core of our culture, contributions are valued and a range of benefits and rewards are available, such as:
- Up to 26 weeks paid parental leave or 14 weeks paid primary caregiver leave
- 17% superannuation contributions
- Electric Buggy provided to travel around campus
- 17.5% annual leave loading
- Access to flexible working arrangements including flexible start/finish times, purchased leave, and a condensed fortnight
- Health and wellness discounts - fitness passport access, free yearly flu vaccinations, discounted health insurance, and access to our Employee Assistance Program for staff and their immediate family
- UQ Study for Staff
- Affordable parking (from just $6.15 a day)
- Salary packaging options
About You
We're looking for an experienced Plumber with strong technical expertise in building maintenance across large and complex facilities. A Gas Fitters License would be looked on favourably but is not essential.
Trade qualifications in plumbing and must have QBCC plumbing license with extensive maintenance experience.
Experience in roof and drainage systems
Current open Queensland Driver's Licence.
Proven knowledge of building services
Basic computer skills.
Be available to take part in an after-hours on call roster.
Strong understanding of WHS and environmental legislation, codes and standards.
Problem-solving skills with the ability to manage diverse maintenance issues effectively.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong, trusted relationships.
A willingness to learn Building services that include building reticulated water, Mechanical HVAC plant, Mechanical HVAC electrical and minor lighting and power, chilled water, compressed air/vacuum, fume cupboards and building management systems.
A desire to grow and learn project and contract management within building maintenance services.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong desire for professional growth and a commitment to learning a wide range of building and maintenance systems. Given the unique and diverse nature of the role, adaptability and a proactive approach to acquiring new technical knowledge are essential.
You will be supported by a dedicated team of experienced tradespeople and facility managers who are committed to providing mentorship and guidance. This collaborative environment will offer you every opportunity to develop your skills and succeed in the role.
