
Climate/Resiliency Engineer

Key Responsibilities
- Technical Engineering Leadership: Lead technical planning, risk analysis, and design work focused on:
- Extreme weather adaptation
- Coastal flood risk reduction
- Sea level rise mitigation
- Stormwater management
- Green infrastructure solutions (both nature-based and hard infrastructure)
- Cross-Disciplinary Coordination: Collaborate with various technical disciplines, including:
- Civil Engineering
- Landscape Architecture
- Hydrologic, Hydraulic, and Hydrodynamic Modeling
- Geotechnical and Structural Engineering
- Transportation
- Ecological and Environmental Science
- Project Management: Manage specific project tasks under the supervision of Senior Project Managers.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare and write technical reports and memorandums to support project documentation.
- Regulatory and Stakeholder Coordination: Work with local, state, and federal agencies as well as project stakeholders to achieve consensus and approvals for project execution.
- Field Work: Conduct site reconnaissance and field assessments as part of project development.
- Proposal Support: Assist senior staff in the development of technical proposals.
- Client Interaction: Engage in face-to-face interactions with clients to discuss project status and requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Hands-on experience in conceptual, preliminary, and final design development and analysis.
- A valid PE License in NY or NJ, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources, Coastal Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in:
- Resilient design and climate adaptation strategies
- Risk assessments
- Water resources infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling, including software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, etc.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local permitting and stakeholder engagement processes.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
- Experience in preparing construction documents such as:
- Drawings
- Specifications
- Cost estimates
- Project scheduling
- Strong skills in analytical thinking, computation, written, and verbal communication.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Capability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
