About the opportunityCentral Coast Community Legal Centre (CCCLC) is seeking part‑time volunteer solicitors to provide free legal services to people living, working or studying on the Central Coast. These are unpaid volunteer positions.You can expect to be exposed to a wide range of legal matters, including debt, fines, family, employment, discrimination, motor vehicle accidents, Apprehended Violence Orders and more.You will gain experience in providing legal information and referral services by telephone, interviewing clients, attending outreach locations, drafting legal letters and court documents, undertaking legal research, developing community legal education materials, engaging in community development and participating in systemic advocacy.

You’ll be exposed to a wide range of legal matters, including debt, fines, family, employment, discrimination, motor vehicle accidents, and AVOs. You’ll gain experience in providing legal information and referrals by telephone, interviewing clients, drafting legal letters and court documents, legal research, developing community legal education materials, engaging in community development. A compulsory 1-day General Orientation, Aboriginal Cultural Awareness, and Intake Training provided.

Time required

We need volunteers to fill shifts between 9am and 5pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Requirements

- National Police Certificate
- Working with Children Check

To be eligible, you must:

- Be a current law student at a recognised Australian university.
- Be able to work between 1 and 4 days per week ongoing, or a minimum commitment of 10 days.
- Attend a compulsory one‑day General Orientation, Aboriginal Cultural Awareness, and Intake Training.
- Pass a National Police Check and Working With Children Check.
