About Us
At Relationships Australia Queensland (RAQ), we are proud to be Queensland’s leading provider of relationship and family wellbeing services. Our purpose is to provide individuals and families with the tools and support they need to build happier, healthier lives. Through education, counselling, and community programs, we help people develop the skills and resilience to navigate life’s challenges. Our work promotes care and safety, embracing diversity to foster strong and connected communities. We are committed to expanding our expertise and leading conversations about relationships, mental health, and social connection. By joining Relationships Australia Queensland, you can be part of a dedicated team making a positive impact on the lives of individuals and communities.
About the role
Are you passionate about protecting the rights and dignity of older Australians? We’re looking for a dedicated and compassionate practitioner to join our Elder Abuse Prevention Support Service (EAPSS) and Seniors Financial Protection Service (SFPS). This is a full-time, permanent role based in our Maroochydore venue, where you’ll make a real impact in the lives of older people, couples, and families affected by elder abuse – with a strong focus on preventing financial exploitation.
In this role, every day is different. You’ll empower clients with practical strategies, connect them to the right supports, and work alongside legal, financial, health, and community services to ensure older people feel safe, heard, and supported. You’ll also play a key part in raising awareness across the community, helping people recognise and respond to the signs of elder abuse.
Responsibilities
- Deliver responsive case management, risk assessments, and safety planning for clients
- Support older people to navigate financial challenges and prevent financial abuse
- Work collaboratively with community, health, legal, and financial partners to achieve positive outcomes
- Facilitate referrals, case conferences, and coordinated care planning
- Contribute to community education sessions that build awareness and prevention strategies
- Provide empathetic, strengths-based, and trauma-informed support at all times
About you
You are motivated by purpose and thrive on making a difference. You bring warmth, professionalism, and resilience to your work and have the confidence to support clients through complex and sensitive situations. You’re equally at home working directly with clients, collaborating with stakeholders, or advocating in the community.
Additionally, you have:
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or a related field
- Experience in case management with the ability to handle complex client needs
- Knowledge of elder abuse, domestic and family violence, and issues affecting older Australians
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to de-escalate conflict and build trust
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage caseloads and prioritise effectively
- Understanding of financial counselling and issues impacting older people
- Experience facilitating community education and outreach activities
We Can Offer You
- Work-Life Balance - Enjoy a flexible, supportive culture that empowers you to thrive at work and at home.
- Boost Your Take-Home Pay - Access salary packaging options of up to $15,900 per year, significantly increasing your net income.
- Extra Time Off - Recharge with 3 additional paid leave days over the Christmas period, on top of your standard annual leave.
- Annual Leave Loading - Receive extra pay when you take annual leave-because your downtime matters.
- Study Leave - Pursuing further qualifications? We offer up to 2 weeks of paid study leave each year to support your professional growth.
- Generous Parental Leave - Take the time you need to focus on your family with our paid parental leave program.
- Wellbeing Support - Benefit from medical insurance discounts and free access to our Employee Assistance Program through Telus Health.
The salary is being offered between $87,000 to $102,000.00 per annum, to be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation.
Join us and experience a workplace where your wellbeing, growth, and success are our top priorities.
