Overview

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and hardworking Lead GP to clinically lead the dedicated team at Cherry Hinton Medical Centre to provide high quality care to our patients. The practice is seeking someone to do between 6 and 8 sessions; a mix of patient facing clinical sessions and providing clinical leadership to the team. It is an excellent opportunity for Salaried GPs seeking the next step in their career or Partners/Lead GPs seeking a change.

We offer a sessional rate of £12,684.55 with full CPD allocation, a cap of 25 appointments a day, and we also provide and adhere to the BMA GP contract.

The Lead GP is a pivotal role in the practice, providing leadership support to the team, exemplifying the professional approach required to deliver high quality services to patients and staff alike. The lead will be supported by the Senior Management Team within CGPN whilst being self-directed and self-motivated. This will include regular support meetings with the Medical Director, appraisal, and support for personal development.

Main duties of the job

- Establish and support a culture and vision within the service that reflects CGPN's vision for a quality driven, supportive workforce model providing the best care possible for patients while supporting the development and progress of its workforce.
- 12-13 patients per session, blocked time for home visits, blocked time for daily clinical meetings
- Capped duty sessions

Job responsibilities

Operational Aspects

The Clinical lead is responsible for ensuring that:

- Linking up to the senior medical team within CGPN (Medical Director, Chair and fellow leads) supporting clinical governance at service level and feeding into the organisational clinical governance structure.
- Attending regular (monthly) meetings and reporting to Clinical Board
- Working with Practice Manager
- Supporting practice staff on an ad hoc basis with clinical queries/issues
- QOF and enhanced service planning/review and optimising achievement
- Linking with the Data management team/workflow team to ensure implementation of systems to optimise quality care within the practice.
- Day-to-day Information governance role

Clinically active

- To maintain credibility and support to the practice team the clinical lead should undertake patient facing clinical sessions within the service. The session would be expected to come from within the clinical lead session allotment. Undertaking clinical work within the practice provides the opportunity to test and refine processes operationally, fully understand the nature of the work required and lead by example.

Professional leadership, development and management

- Effectively communicating with clinical team and leading regular team meetings
- In liaison with the Practice Manager, to ensure that the GP clinical rota is covered and to help manage contingency arrangements when needed
- To be, or work closely with, the CQC Registered Manager, Practice Manager and Governance Team to prepare for CQC inspections and respond to any improvements that may be recommended by CQC
- Be responsible for ensuring the service provided at the Practice is consistently safe, caring, effective, responsive and well-led
- Induction of new Salaried GPs

Networking aspects

- Represent the practice at a local level with the PCN and other stakeholders.

Clinical Governance

Responsibilities for this include working with the Practice Team to:

- Ensure ongoing clinical compliance in line with standards of best practice
- Development and leading a clinical audit programme in the Practice that reviews clinical practice and outcomes in relation to best practice guidelines and standards
- Ensure the clinical team are responding to clinical audit feedback and taking full advantage of the learning support offered through this process
- In partnership with the Practice Manager, participating in the managing of clinical complaints/incidents
- To be, or support, the Practice Safeguarding Lead for children and vulnerable adults

- Working closely with the practice managers to bring together the skills of both professions for the benefit of the patients, staff and the practice.

The practice operates under the General Medical Service (GMS) contract for General Practice.

Qualifications

- Fully qualified GP with GMC registration
- Evidence of annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate)
- General practice (Vocational Training Scheme) trained
- On/eligible to be on a medical performers list
- Enhanced CRB check
- UK driving licence
- Current CPR certificate
- UK work permit (if required)
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Other Post Graduate Diplomas

Experience

- Successfully Completed General Practice Specialist Training
- Appropriate range of previous experience in hospital posts
- Clinical and Information Governance
- Self-audit and reflection
- Organised and efficient in record keeping and completion of paperwork
- Time management -- being able to prioritise work and work under pressure
- Experience of working a variety of clinical software systems
