The Pool Lifeguard plays a vital role in our aquatic center, responsible for the safety and enjoyment of all pool users. Beyond supervision, lifeguards build relationships, identify risks, and create a fun, safe environment. This role involves maintaining pool chemistry, cleanliness, and a high standard of customer service. Shifts may vary to meet facility and member needs.

Responsibilities

- Ensure the safety of pool patrons by maintaining a constant patrol and providing first aid and rescue services.
- Create a clean, friendly, and well-maintained aquatic environment for members and families.
- Identify potential risk factors and take proactive measures to mitigate them.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with facility members, employees, and families.
- Supervise the pool and its surroundings, ensuring a high level of supervision without compromising the fun atmosphere.
- Conduct basic water quality control and testing procedures to maintain pool chemistry.
- Work flexible shifts, including weekends, early mornings, and evenings, to meet the needs of the facility and its members.
- Provide excellent customer service, addressing any inquiries or concerns promptly.
- Interact with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment.

Qualifications

- Current RLSSA Pool Lifeguard Certificate
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Experience in Pool Lifeguard roles, with knowledge of pool operations and basic water quality control.
- Strong customer service skills and a passion for helping people.
- Experience in exercise screening, prescription, and fitness testing.
- Ability to problem-solve and work effectively as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with a diverse range of individuals.
- A strong work ethic and a commitment to providing a positive customer experience.
- Paid Working with Children Check is mandatory for this role.
