Who We Are & Why We're Different

Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is a community-led Aboriginal health service delivering integrated primary healthcare, allied health, and wellbeing programs across more than 160,000 km² of remote NT — stretching from the Victoria River country along the WA border to the tip of the Tanami desert.

Our work is grounded in cultural security, guided by community control, and driven by long-term impact. From maternal health to disability support, we build trusted relationships that lead to real outcomes for our mob in the bush.

As an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation, we value inclusion, local leadership, and purpose-driven people. We're not your typical workplace — and we're proud of that.

Great Opportunities – One Shared Purpose

We're launching a brand-new program funded to address homelessness in the Katherine region. This is the first time KWHB has operated in this space — meaning you won't just be joining a team, you'll be helping build it from the ground up.

As a Safe Stays & Living Proud Coordinator, you will:

- Lead overall program implementation and coordination

- Set up program framework, build partnerships, define eligibility

- Coordinate service delivery and support officers

- Katherine-based with some remote travel

- Suited to experienced program builders who enjoy mentoring and shaping new services

For the two Community Support Officers, you will:

- Provide direct client support in town and communities

- Case management, advocacy, referrals, short-term accommodation, transport & return-to-Country planning

- One Officer more town-based; one Officer travels regularly to remote communities

- Engage with local services, accommodation providers, and stakeholders

- Ideal for flexible, people-focused professionals passionate about supporting Aboriginal clients

Why These Roles Matter

This isn't just another service — it's a new program in a new space for KWHB.

- For the Coordinator, it's a rare chance to own the setup of a program from day one — building systems, creating pathways, and shaping how services are delivered.

- For the Support Officers, it's an opportunity to work in a team that's hands-on from the start, helping clients where the need is greatest and strengthening connections between town and bush.

Here's what your first month could look like:

- Week 1–2: Orientation, learning the lay of the land, connecting with the KWHB team, and starting to build local relationships in Katherine.

- Week 3–4: Meeting with key stakeholders, setting up referral pathways, and beginning client intake and casework in Katherine.

- By end of month: Coordinated service delivery underway, with the Coordinator leading system setup and Support Officers handling client support, before expanding into community visits with partners.

Every step you take will directly improve housing security, dignity and wellbeing for Aboriginal families.

Let's Talk About You

This is for people who want their work to matter. You'll fit right in if you:

- Believe in cultural safety and self-determination as everyday practice

- Can balance practical frontline support with a strategic, problem-solving mindset

- Know how to build trust quickly with clients, families, and partners

- Have the adaptability to work in both Katherine town and remote bush communities

- Value being part of a supportive, close-knit team where respect and humour go hand-in-hand

The Coordinator role suits someone ready to build a program and lead from the front.
The Support Officer roles are perfect for people who love rolling up their sleeves and walking alongside clients in town or out bush.

Why You'll Love Working With Us

- Competitive salaries + salary packaging

- Relocation assistance and housing support

- Paid travel and accommodation when working remote

- Real professional development opportunities

- A tight-knit team that backs each other in

- A workplace where culture, community and connection matter as much as KPIs
