About the role

Our new programme, Pathways to Safety and Support provides effective intervention for children, young people and their families, with problematic and harmful sexual behaviours (PHSB) by linking them with targeted and coordinated supports.

Using cultural knowledge and lived experience work collaboratively to support team members to understand how to provide culturally appropriate and safe support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families in all aspects of practice and service delivery, through individual case consultation, group supervision activities and information sharing.

Duties

- You will also support clients and their families to have needs met in a culturally appropriate manner including ability to engage in culturally appropriate practice, protocols and community engagement.
- Inform and contribute to development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural practice within the team.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to develop, implement, and review safety and support plans that address both strengths and areas of risk using or applying a cultural safe lens.
- Coordinate a culturally safe pathway in wrap-around support by working closely with government departments, schools, health services, and community agencies to raise awareness and deliver integrated services.
- Identify and respond to risks, including escalating concerns and making child protection reports where necessary.

Skills and Experience

As well as having recognition from Community as a culturally safe person, as a Case Manager within our Pathways Team, you will have:

- Tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field, or equivalent lived experience.
- Experience working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and other diverse groups.
- Knowledge of issues affecting Aboriginal communities, families, and children.
- Strong understanding of problematic and harmful sexual behaviours (PHSB) in children and young people, including associated risks and vulnerabilities.
- Demonstrated experience supporting children, young people, and families, particularly in child protection or similar settings.
- Excellent communication, assessment, and case planning skills, with a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach.
