It’s often overwhelming for the people we support to make changes in their lives.

You can help by donating your time as a Young Person Volunteer Mentor.

Responsibilities

With this role you’ll be working as part of Southwark Young Person team, supporting people who are dealing with substance misuse and alcohol issues.

In this role, you will offer one-to-one support to the people who use our services in the community. Whether you’re talking about goals in a coffee shop or researching job opportunities together in a library, no two sessions will be the same. We treat everyone as individuals, so being flexible, curious, and a good listener are key.

Helping people to take that next step can be a challenge, so in return for your time, we will offer you comprehensive training and ensure that you have someone at the other end of the phone for day-to-day advice and guidance. You will also have a named supervisor, who you will meet up with regularly.

By volunteering with us, you will gain valuable experience and skills while making a real difference.
