About CPM

We’re CPM Advisory and Project Management, and we work with government clients to deliver infrastructure that matters to communities. As a client-side consultancy, we’re involved in projects from the early planning stages right through to delivery and handover.

Our team comes from all sorts of backgrounds: civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering, plus plenty of people with solid buildings project management experience. We work across five main areas: Civil (Roads & Transport), Energy, Ports & Maritime, Water, and Social Infrastructure.

The projects we work on are the kinds of things you drive past or use every day: roads, rail lines, utilities, dams, marine infrastructure, civic buildings. We’re there working alongside public sector clients to make sure these projects are built right, on time, and deliver real value to our clients and the community.

Our values aren’t just words on a wall. They genuinely guide how we work: People First, Adaptability & Technical Excellence, Collaboration, and Positive Legacy.

About the Role

As a Project Manager, you’ll be leading infrastructure projects for government clients. Day‑to‑day, that means working with government stakeholders, consultants, and delivery partners to keep projects on track, on budget, and up to standard. You’ll lead project teams, manage scope and risk, and provide advice that helps clients achieve what they’re trying to do for their communities.

We work with councils and government organisations at all levels. Most of our engagements involve being seconded to a client organisation where you’ll work as an embedded resource. Usually, you’ll split your time between the client’s office and ours.

You’ll be part of a team that values technical know‑how, flexibility, and getting stuck in when problems arise. Success in this role comes down to building trusted relationships, navigating stakeholder complexities, and actually getting projects delivered.

Skills | Experience | Qualifications

We’re after a Project Manager who’s technically capable, collaborative, and proactive. You’ll have experience working on projects in areas like:

- Transport & Civil Infrastructure

- Social Infrastructure (Health & Education)

- Utilities & Energy

- Renewables & Sustainability

- Water Infrastructure

- Urban Development

Most of our team have tertiary qualifications across various disciplines. Ideally, you’ll have:

- A degree in something relevant: Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or similar

- If you’re an engineer, RPEQ or CPEng accreditation would be great (or if you’re working towards it)

- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to build genuine relationships with stakeholders

- Good time management and a roll‑up-your‑sleeves attitude

Your background might be with government organisations, councils, contractors, or consultancies.

If you’re currently a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer looking to step into a Project Manager role with a client-side consultancy, this could be the right opportunity for you.

We believe that when our people are doing well, our projects do too. So we’ve built a workplace that is flexible, inclusive, and genuinely puts people first.
