We are seeking a Chaplain to join our team in Coffs Harbour, where you’ll play a vital role in supporting the pastoral health and wellbeing of staff as they serve their communities. This is a deeply relational role that combines care, guidance and encouragement while helping people connect with Mission Australia’s Founding Purpose and values. You’ll offer spiritual and personal support to individuals, and in groups, walking alongside them in times of challenge and growth. You’ll also collaborate with churches to extend the care and support offered by our services.Based in Coffs Harbour, the role will require regular travel to Mission Australia locations across the region, with access to a Mission Australia pool vehicle.Your key responsibilities will include:* Providing meaningful pastoral care and support to staff, and clients on request, responding with empathy and encouragement.* Assisting staff to live out Mission Australia’s Founding Purpose and values, encouraging reflective practice and values-based decision making.* Creating safe and empowering spaces for pastoral care sessions, while connecting staff to other support where appropriate.* Collaborating with Program Managers to design and deliver reflections, spiritual programs, and cultural activities that build connection and purpose.* Maintaining visibility and connection through regular site visits and by promoting the services of chaplaincy across the region.* Supporting the growth of chaplaincy by evaluating new initiatives, sharing insights, and strengthening internal learning and development.* Building strong relationships with staff, churches, chaplaincy networks and community groups, always maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.* Actively engaging with local Christian communities and churches to foster meaningful partnerships, resources, and opportunities to support our mission.**Requirements for success*** Relevant theological or pastoral qualifications (e.g. Clinical Pastoral Education, Certificate IV in Pastoral Care and Chaplaincy, or equivalent).* Ordained Minister, Pastor or equivalent, in good standing with your denomination, committed to personal spiritual growth and active in a local church community.* Proven ability to deliver culturally sensitive pastoral care, demonstrating empathy, respect and inclusivity.* Strong cross-denominational approach, grounded in the Bible as the inspired word of God.* Excellent listening and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain confidentiality.* Confident communicator with clear written skills and the ability to share reflections that inspire and encourage.* Organised, resilient and able to manage competing needs while maintaining personal wellbeing.* A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel regularly in northern NSW and just across the Queensland border (car and accommodation provided).Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.**Your benefits*** Rewarding work – every day you know you’re making a real difference* Not-for-profit salary packaging, reducing your tax (details via )* Free external, confidential counselling and access to* Volunteering opportunities* Opportunity to purchase additional annual leave* Extra leave including: Mission Australia Thank You Day & Work Anniversary Day off**Our culture**Our innovative and inclusive culture will ensure you feel valued at Mission Australia as you help Australians in need and develop in your career.We prioritise the safety and wellbeing of everyone, both within our team and the individuals we serve.We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive working environment.
