Subspecialty Family Practice or Internal Medicine

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) desired. Current College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC) license required. Provisional Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) eligibility mandatory. Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) membership mandatory. Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) eligibility preferred.

The South Island Hospitalist group, in collaboration with Island Health, is seeking hospitalists to join our dynamic team in beautiful Victoria.

Hospitalists in Victoria provide a 24-hour MRP service at Victoria General and Royal Jubilee Hospitals. The role involves diverse and interesting medical cases, with a high degree of autonomy supported by specialist colleagues. Our patient care includes individuals aged 17-100+, covering addictions, palliative care, geriatrics, and co-management of surgical and rehabilitation patients.

Island Health is affiliated with the UBC Faculty of Medicine. Hospitalists support undergraduate and resident teaching at both hospital sites. We offer weekly CME rounds and numerous opportunities for learning, growth, and innovation. Our team members can participate in unique hospitalist-run programs such as the Inpatient MAID service, Hospital at Home, and the Rapid Assessment and Discharge short-stay unit.

We seek enthusiastic candidates interested in acute care who enjoy collaborative teamwork. We provide a tailored mentorship program for onboarding and a six-week (non-consecutive) FP return-to-acute-care refresher program for those out of hospital medicine for two years.
