The Team: The Ward Clerk team plays a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of the Inpatient Services Unit. This team is responsible for providing high-quality administrative and clerical support to ensure efficient patient flow and accurate documentation. Ward Clerks act as the central point of coordination for admissions, discharges, and communication between clinical staff, patients, and external providers. The Role: Key aspects of the role include: - Managing patient documentation accurately and efficiently. - Coordinating administrative processes to support patient flow. - Acting as a liaison between nursing staff, allied health professionals, and external stakeholders. - Maintaining confidentiality and compliance with hospital policies and Care Values -Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence. - Contributing to a collaborative and professional team environment. This position requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare setting. You will need: - Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively interact with the public and all disciplines of professional staff. - Well-developed time management skills and the demonstrated ability to work autonomously; prioritise workloads; and apply flexibility, speed and accuracy whilst working in a busy and demanding public environment with an exacting schedule. - Demonstrated skills and abilities in contemporary clerical and administrative support including rapid and accurate data entry skills, a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite packages and knowledge of, or the ability to acquire knowledge of, the Royal Hobart Hospital’s health information systems.
