Position Overview

Manual Machinist — Location: Salisbury, MD, US 21801. Work Arrangement: Onsite.

Manual Machinists work with manual heavy machinery from setup to operation to produce parts and tools from metal. Machinists adjust machine speed, material feed and cut path, ensure proper setup, operation, and that output meets quality standards. They monitor machine capacity, stock materials, perform routine maintenance, and conduct periodic checks on output. Use measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers and depth micrometers to inspect parts and ensure products meet production guidelines. Operators report quality-control problems and may suggest changes to raw materials and machines while maintaining a clean workspace and finishing products as needed.

Specific duties included but not limited to:

- Figure machine set up positions through Edge Finders and mathematical equations

- Set tooling & loads in machines

- Deburr parts with deburring tools and equipment

- Manual equipment experience to include drill press, manual milling machines, manual lathes, manual surface grinders

Qualifications Summary

Manual Machinists can gain skills through vocational schools, technical colleges or community college programs, or apprenticeships. Typically, it takes 4-5 years of combined education and on-the-job training to become fully trained. To excel, machinists need many years of experience and must show aptitude for math, problem-solving and computer skills.

- Math Skills: Good math skills to understand complex instructions, schematics, and ensure items are designed and built correctly.

- Problem Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose why machines are not at peak performance and how to fix errors.

- Attention to Detail: Work with precision equipment; being off by millimeters can be critical.

- Stamina: Ability to work long hours performing repetitive movements.

Work Arrangements & Compensation

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Pay Range: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour

Bonus Eligible: This position is eligible to earn a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan.
