Job Details:
Job Summary: Responsible for assisting the Information Technology Service Manger (ITSM) Lead in relation to all ITSM functions. In this capacity, the role provides immediate ITSM direction to staff with diverse IT roles and provides ITSM oversight to the activities of specialist teams including IT governance, compliance and risk. This position typically works under general supervision and direction.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

- Ensures the ITSM components of the IT environment remain a viable host of classified simulation training amid high levels of departmental regulation and dynamic policy
- Assists and improves upon ITSM related process and procedure.
- Complies with IT Service Management (ITSM) Policy when working on networks, systems, software, services or information holdings.
- Ensures staff compliance with policy, process and Executive instructions. Is responsible to the ITSM Operations Manager for these outcomes.
- Reports routinely on ITSM states. This includes but is not limited to reportable CMDB, Security, Change and Incident.
- Is tasked using a variety of service management tools.
- Ensures ITSM Lead tasking is carried to the workforce. Passes instructions through the Ticketing & Scheduling Manager for recording and tracking in approved systems. Also alerts to tasking received outside work take on processes.
- Monitors the IT system states in real time. Uses information to initiate ITIL Incident Management.
- Interacts with internal and external service providers in relation to ITSM processes, touchpoints and policy.
- Reviews ITSM related risk and issues on an ongoing basis. Passes recommendations for adjustment in posture following risk/issue retirement, risk realisation or onset of new information altering the basis of assessments.
- Supports the ITSM Operations Manager for end user communications. This includes scheduled and unscheduled service interruptions, promulgates Service Advisory Notifications (SANs) across DTEN, DRN and DSN distribution lists. Where interruptions are discretionary, first refers to planning tools for de-conflicting work against wider organisational activity and aims to provide at least 48 hours’ notice.
- Supports the ITSM Operations Manager to provide accountable advice and recommendations on process matters, seeking out additional information if needed to ensure accuracy and accountability.
- Acts as key stakeholder and contributor to for the IT Services Management (ITSM) document suite. Reviews and directs content updates by staff in accordance with standing cycles and/or direction.
- Applies ITIL Service Management principles and processes. This position schedules IT change submissions for the Change Advisory Board (CAB) after he or she determines them feasible and complete, based on approved criteria.
- Routinely contributes content to knowledge repositories and provides input to policy, process and procedures on request. Coordinates ITSM development of the workforce.
- Handles all classified information in accordance with standing ADF Instructions, including the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF) and Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM).
- Is responsible for the protection of Commonwealth Intellectual Property (IP) and upholding Defence’s international obligations in relation to ITAR controlled software.
- Is responsible for personal conduct. This includes, productivity, accurate time sheet recording and transparent acquittal of leave.
