**About You**
- You bring your experience and education as a Social Worker and be supported to grown and build your career through training, development and networks within supportive and high functioning teams.

**What You'll Be Doing**

The VAN Services are dynamic, innovative and leaders in trauma informed, culturally safe and strength based care.

We have a primary role of establishing stablisation and safety for children, young people, individuals and families and to work across the health system to support healing and recovery with a focus on increasing capacity and wellbeing. We are committed to ongoing development and continuous improvement and strive for a flexible and responsive public health response to Violence, Abuse and Neglect.

The provision of short term counselling and support is intended to;
- Support victims at risk due by enhancing safety and supports
- Reduce social isolation and barriers experienced by victims in accessing services including Health, Housing, legal/court support, financial/income support, counselling, therapeutic programs and parenting support
- Provide confidential, professional and relevant services to victims and their families using a brief intervention model which may include risk assessment, safety planning, psycho-education, counselling and referral to other appropriate services
- Promote collaboration and integrated responses to domestic and family violence

The position is based at Gateway Centre and provides an assertive outreach service to hospitals, other health facilities and community locations as required. This is one of two positions covering the Central Coast.
The Social Worker will also provide specialist consultation to assist other health workers in determining risk, safety planning and appropriate referrals where required.
The social worker is to work closely with interdisciplinary colleagues and senior managers within Violence, Abuse and Neglect services to ensure the development and delivery of effective and pro-active social work services. The social worker will be expected to be active in the areas of service development, evaluation and staff and student teaching.
