Applications are invited for the part-time ongoing position of Digital Media and Communications Officer in the office of Dr Sophie Scamps MP, based in Narrabeen, Sydney NSW. Travel to Canberra may be required on occasion.

This exciting opportunity is for a media professional to use their excellent communication skills and digital expertise to communicate the messaging of Dr Sophie Scamps MP across multi-platform communication channels in a fast-paced political environment.

This position requires a high degree of loyalty, versatility, the ability to work under pressure, maintain confidentiality and maintain the highest ethical standards.

**Key accountabilities of the position include, however are not limited to**:

- The development and implementation of the multi-platform digital communications strategy, ensuring consistency of messaging and effective engagement.
- Manage social media channels, including content planning, production, distribution, monitoring and engagement with stakeholders and the community.
- Responsible for daily messaging and reporting of the Member’s activities in Parliament House or the electorate back to constituents via social media and fortnightly online newsletters.
- Respond to social media enquiries and escalate where required
- Build the Member’s online presence and following across social media channels
- Collaborate with key stakeholders and work closely with the Media Adviser and Chief of Staff.
- Produce, edit, and publish targeted digital content to ensure the Member’s website, social channels and newsletters contain the highest quality and most relevant and up-to-date information for the Mackellar electorate.
- Produce, edit and oversee distribution of hardcopy quarterly newsletters in conjunction with the.
- Manage and maintain the Member’s website, including content production, updates and overseeing website design according to required branding.
- Develop and deliver website and social media reports and evaluation tools to demonstrate website and social media usage and relevance.
- Provide advice on digital media strategy and information to be communicated to constituents and stakeholders.
- Provide timely advice on issues of national and local importance to the Member and team.
- Maintain strong engagement with local stakeholders and the community through social media and targeted communications.
- React to and manage issues with relevant stakeholders.
- Management of online and print advertising in conjunction including design and content production.
- Assist in developing and maintaining the multi-channel advertising plan in conjunction
- Assist in the drafting and distribution of media releases when required.
- Assist with communication administration duties, for example, logging and monitoring for media coverage.
- Production and editing of videos for distribution across multi-media platforms.
- Work closely with the Community Engagement team to promote local events and activities to the electorate.
- Travel to events and engagements with the Member as required (evening and weekend engagements as required).
- Assist with on call duties and out of hours work from time to time.

**Essential requirements**:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and evaluating digital communications, media communications, and marketing strategies
- Ability to use digital and online tools
- Ability to develop and deliver digital communications campaigns.
- Proven experience in the use of digital media platforms, including social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn), scheduling tools, website design and production platforms.
- Skills in video editing and production.
- Graphic design and content production skills utilising Canva, Adobe Suite or similar tools.
- Impeccable interpersonal and relationship management skills.
- A strong news sense and experience in issues management.
- Excellent time management and organisation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing deadlines.

**Employment conditions**:
The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020-23which include:

- A commencing salary between $69,170 and $70,969 pro rata, depending on experience and relevant skills.
- An optional allowance may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for reasonable additional hours of work.
- An employer contribution of 15.4% superannuation.
