About the opportunity
We have an exciting full-time ongoing opportunity for a Manager Regulatory Policy who will shape our energy safety policy and the energy safety legislative framework to support Victoria's transition to renewable energy.
**You will contribute by**:
- Provide leadership and contribute to the overall management, performance and development of the Regulatory Policy Team to build knowledge and capability, and drive a strong and supportive team culture.
- Oversee environmental scanning, research and analysis, and work collaboratively with teams across ESV, to identify emerging themes, trends or complex issues and plan delivery of regulatory policy and training accordingly.
- Manage the timely delivery and review of policies, procedures and supporting tools to support our people to exercise their regulatory powers in an environment of competing priorities and transformation of our regulatory practices.
- Work collaboratively with teams across ESV to develop compliance codes and guidelines to help regulated entities understand their responsibilities and ESV's expectations.
- Lead complex and sensitive energy safety policy projects, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality advice with recommendations and innovative solutions based on comprehensive research and analysis.
- Ensure policy reforms relevant to ESV's regulatory role are identified at an early stage and briefed to key internal stakeholders including the Executive Leadership Team.
- Liaise with relevant government departments, regulatory agencies and industry stakeholders on energy safety issues and ESV's regulatory role.
**To be successful, you'll have**:
- Experience developing and leading high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Hands-on regulatory and policy experience, preferably obtained working at a regulator with a safety, energy, economics or consumer focus.
- Understanding of Victorian and national energy markets with a focus on energy safety frameworks, or a demonstrated ability to quickly develop this understanding.
- Experience in the preparation of project plans, briefs and reports with advice and recommendations to senior leaders on complex policy issues and options.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels, identify innovative solutions to resolve issues, and obtain necessary support.
- Excellent ability to present technical and legal issues in plain English for a variety of audiences.
