- Our client, a dynamic start-up underwriting agency specialising in financial lines products, is seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to join their team as the
- **Head of Underwriting**.
- As a key player in the industry, they are committed to delivering innovative solutions to their clients and establishing themselves as a leader in the Australian market.
- In this role you will be backed by a supportive executive team and have the opportunity to showcase your leadership and strategic thinking. You will be well rewarded for your success.**Key Responsibilities**:

- ** Underwriting Leadership**: Lead and manage the underwriting team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality financial lines products. Develop and implement underwriting strategies, including risk appetite, policy wordings, and collaboration with security providers to secure capacity.
- ** Market Facing Capability**: Utilise your expertise to establish, develop, and cultivate strong relationships within the intermediated insurance market and act as a key representative of the company, enhancing their presence and reputation.
- ** Managing Delegated Authority**: Play a key role in the development and management of binder capacity, including reporting and negotiating at renewal.

**Key Competencies**:

- ** Leadership**: Demonstrate strong leadership skills to guide and inspire the underwriting team towards achieving company goals and targets.
- ** Strategic Thinking**: Ability to develop and implement underwriting strategies that align with the company's objectives and market demands.
- ** Relationship Management**: Proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders in the intermediated insurance market.
- ** Risk Assessment**: In-depth understanding of financial lines products and expertise in assessing and managing risks.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Diploma or Tier 1 qualifications in Insurance are essential.
- Proven extensive underwriting experience within the financial lines space.
- Experience in developing underwriting strategies, including risk appetite, policy wordings, and securing capacity from security providers.
- Market facing capability with a track record of establishing, developing, and growing relationships within the intermediated insurance market.
- Background within an underwriting agency environment is highly desirable.
- Previous roles that included being a 'Responsible Manager' would be a significant bonus.
