**The Position**

The Technical Officer will provide professional technical support to the SHRIMP facility Laboratory Manager and will be involved in general laboratory administration and maintenance tasks. You will contribute to the laboratory management information system and with appropriate training provide analytical expertise to a wide variety of researchers from around Australia and overseas.

The Technical Officer will join the Research School of Earth Sciences (RSES) as a member of the Geochemical instrument Operations Team. RSES is Australia’s leading academic research institution for Earth and Marine Sciences, and ranked 11th in the world for Earth and Marine Sciences (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023). **The Person**

We are looking for a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to quickly develop productive, professional relationships with colleagues and clients. Highly developed organisational skills and effective self-management are key.

To excel in this role you will have
- A Trade Certificate II or III, with relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Knowledge and experience with techniques for analytical chemistry laboratory work sample preparation, geo/biochemistry, and analytical instrumentation such as SIMS and MC-ICP-MS.
- Demonstrated experience in providing technical support to laboratory users on the safe use of laboratory equipment and instrumentation, including general laboratory/workshop equipment, and a strong understanding of WHS and regulatory requirements.

Your ability to lead by example, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, will enable you to foster respectful and productive working relationships with staff, students and colleagues at all levels within RSES in line with the RSES Culture Statement.
