**The Role**
Within the Project Control function an (APS 5) Project Support Officer is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve complex project activities within an integrated workforce.

They are required to have, and maintain, a well-developed understanding of, and compliance to, relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.

They will be accountable for organizing their workflow and making independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility. They will interpret and provide advice based on legislation and policy, conduct research and analysis, perform reviews and provide administrative support to achieve results.

The (APS 5) Project Support Officer will coordinate and contribute to the work of a multi-disciplinary team. They may be required to provide advice and assistance to team members, engage and communicate with stakeholders, respond and provide advice on issues to achieve project outcomes.
They will be accountable to contribute to ongoing self-improvement and professional development.

**About our Team**
Space Systems Branch has been established to acquire and sustain satellite communications (SATCOM) systems, and be a trusted advisor of SATCOM systems for the Australian Defence Organisation.

Current SATCOM Systems Program Office (SPO) operates in a high-tempo, dynamic environment and we are looking for an experienced and high performing Project Support Officer to help achieve our objectives.

The Team works from Brindabella Park offices in Canberra and maintains close collaboration with other parts of Defence as well as other Australian and foreign Government agencies.

They will have highly developed organizational skills and a proven record of supporting multi-disciplinary teams toward completion of project outcomes. They will display an ability to learn rapidly and adapt quickly to dynamic and complex environments and be comfortable and confident taking ownership of outcomes and leading tasks to completion.

This is a desk-based position involving computer use and working with others towards shared goals in a collaborative team environment.
- Be accountable for contributing to the development and maintenance of project planning and performance processes in accordance with agreed procedures and performance standards.
- Assist with preparation of financial reports and project budget estimates and expenditure forecasts.
- Research, draft and prepare briefs, correspondence and reports including submissions for committee consideration.
- Work collaboratively, operate as an effective team member and provide constructive feedback.
- Engage with relevant stakeholders and understand their expectations and concerns.
- Adjust project management methodologies to comply with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.
- Resolve problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.
