Applications are invited for the full-time ongoing position of Electorate Officer (EOA) in the Office of the Hon. Dr Anne Aly MP, Federal Member for Cowan based in the Member’s Electorate Office in Stirling, WA. The Electorate Officer will help manage the Member’s engagement with constituents and stakeholders in the Cowan community.

Electorate Officers will be required to perform a range of duties including constituent support, stakeholder management, and office support:
**The key duties of the position are, but are not limited to**:

- Engaging with and advocating on behalf of constituents.
- Drafting correspondence and briefing notes.
- Liaison with Ministerial offices, Government departments and community organisations.
- Engagement with stakeholders.
- Liaise with organisations, groups and individuals in the public and private sectors.
- Organising events and meetings as required.
- Attend team meetings and participate in overall planning functions of the office.
- Represent and/or accompany the Member at meetings and other events as required.
- Be prepared to travel on occasional electorate and parliamentary business as directed.
- Other general office duties as required.

**The ideal applicant should possess the following skills, qualifications, and experience**:
ESSENTIAL
- Demonstrated initiative and organisational ability, particularly in determining priorities and monitoring workflows.
- High level of written and oral communication skills in an advocacy role with proven experience in providing sound advice to staff, constituents, organisations and groups.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders (including CALD, and business groups, community organisations and individuals) and manage diverse interests.
- Proven attention to detail and analytical skills applied in a service role.
- Experience in effective service provision in an Electorate Office or similar role.

DESIRABLE
- Demonstrated ability to liaise with Ministerial Offices, Government Departments and understand Departmental procedures to advocate for constituents and stakeholders.
- Strong interest in the Australian political system and knowledge of issues pertaining to the electorate of Cowan.
- Knowledge of Government and Parliamentary procedures, including entitlements and allowances.

**Employment conditions**:
The position/s are offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020-23which include:

- A commencing salary between $69,046 and $73,098 will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills.
- An additional optional allowance may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work.
- An employer superannuation contribution of 15.4% will be payable.

All ministerial staff will be bound by a code of conduct and be required to obtain and maintain an Australian Government security clearance (NV2).
