**The Role**
Space Command is looking for an EL 1 to join the Space Policy & Engagement Directorate. You will lead a small team working to advance Australia’s military and space capabilities, and enhance collaboration with our Allies and Partners, as well as the Australian space industry.

You will work closely with other areas of Space Command, along with Defence counterparts across Strategic Policy & Industry Group, Joint Operations Command, and Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group and Whole of Government to develop and refine strategic and international engagement policies, frameworks and activities. You will develop tailored briefings and deliver bilateral and multilateral talks for Defence’s senior leaders. You will also engage closely with stakeholders across the Australian Government and Defence Industry.

On a daily basis, your team’s work could range from preparing Defence Senior Leaders to conduct talks with their international counterparts on Defence strategic space policies or military engagement, working with the Australian Defence Force to provide policy guidance for operations, scanning the horizon to assess emerging strategic issues or guiding industry to better meet Defence requirements.

Space Command has been established to prepare space power to secure Australia's interests in peace and war. Its vision is to assure Australian civil and military access in space, integrated across Government, and in concert with allies, international partners and industry. The Space Policy & Engagement Directorate sits within the Strategic Plans Branch and develops, manages and implements space related strategic and international policy and engagement activities in a whole of Defence and whole of government context.
