As an Assessment Officer reporting directly to the Deputy Independent Assessor, you will:

- Demonstrate critical thinking by reading and analysing complex information to identify key points and issues and proactively identify and fill information gaps.
- Engage effectively and respectfully with mayors, councillors, council CEO's, council employees and complainants to obtain information in sometimes challenging circumstances.
- Prepare for and attend case assessment meetings on a daily basis and undertake assessments within set timeframes.
- Succinctly brief on complaints to the case assessment team.
- Draft timely and high-quality correspondence and ensure that all correspondence is securely stored in accordance with record keeping protocols.
- Use the case management system to track complaints through the assessment workflow ensuring all deadlines are met. Training will be provided.
- Build collaborative working relationships internally and externally and strive at all times to represent the OIA in a professional and efficient manner,
- In a small office environment work flexibly to provide coverage across other duties relevant to the receipt and assessment of complaints.
- Model professional and ethical behaviour and act in accordance with the Queensland Public Service legislative framework and Code of Conduct.
- Previous knowledge and or experience of undertaking assessments, administrative law or local government; or the ability to rapidly acquire the same is desirable.

- Accountability - you act in accordance with the Queensland public service legislative framework and Code of Conduct. You are committed to personal development and continuous self-improvement.

Previous local government experience will be highly regarded.
