As a Principal Modeller in the Emissions Modelling and Analysis team, you'll be contributing to this inspiring science area.

**Here's what we're looking for**:

- GHG Emissions Expertise: Extensive knowledge in GHG emissions inventory and accounting, including both sector-based and facility-based approaches across resource and industry sectors and or other sectors.
- Data Science Proficiency: Demonstrated extensive knowledge in data science, with proficiency in R or python, Github and PowerBI. Experience with Azure cloud computing is a plus.
- Project Management: Ability to construct and monitor project plans with appropriate milestones, timeframes, and budgets to achieve high-quality scientific outcomes.
- Analytical and Communication Skills: Proven ability to analyse and interpret technical information to inform evidence-based decision-making. Provide accurate, impartial, and forthright scientific advice using language tailored to the audience.
- Innovative Thinking: Demonstrated lateral thinking and innovation in delivering scientific services, including effective communication and promotion of findings.
- Stakeholder Relationships: High-level ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with partners and stakeholders, including researchers, agencies, and industry groups.
- Ability to model ethical behaviour, act with integrity, and are respectful of the perspectives of others.

**As part of this role, some of your responsibilities include**:

- Scientific Implementation and Project Assistance: Provide professional expertise in the design and delivery of greenhouse gas (GHG) modelling, abatement assessment, scenario development, decision support systems, and products. Assist with scientific research projects, including both sector-based and facility-based emissions models and tools, to evaluate GHG emissions estimation and mitigation in industry and resource sectors. Ensure effective and efficient service delivery.
- Technical and Data-Driven Policy Support: Offer specialist scientific expertise, technical advice, and analytical support for the department's ongoing programs. Provide internal consulting services, handle ad hoc, quick turnaround requests customized to policy needs, and deliver data-driven policy advice based on rigorous analysis of GHG emissions data, modelling results, and scenario assessments. Translate complex technical findings into actionable insights and recommendations for policy formulation and decision-making.
- Representation: Represent the Climate Division and the Department at meetings and committees, addressing issues aligned with the Government's vision and priorities.
- Cultural Engagement: Promote and support a workplace culture that respects and engages with First Nations people, contributing to better outcomes for these communities.
