**Your role**

The Injury Management Advisor role sits within the Workers Compensation, Safety and Wellbeing team. The role leads and implements the Department’s injury management strategy, wellbeing strategy and designs projects to reduce and manage high risk injuries and reduce the cost and impact to employees.

**What you’ll do**

This role works across diverse business streams as the primary contact for the Department in Litigated Workers Compensation matters. The role will assist teams to work with the business to implement preventative programs, resolve challenges, barriers, complex workers compensation risks and injury management cases, working closely with appointed legal representatives and the nominal insurer.

Reporting to the Injury Manager, you are highly proactive and responsive in your work. You are a strong communicator, with the ability to have conversations with business partners at all levels throughout the organisation. You can support teams by assisting with decisions, providing practical advice, and mitigating risk. You will collaborate with safety and injury management professionals to develop strong links with the business and stakeholders to ensure you deliver best practise return to work programs.

You will also review claims, provide supporting evidence and prepare professional written and verbal advice to claims handlers and the business on reasonable and appropriate recommendations whilst following injury management policies and procedures in line with legislative requirements.

**What we’re looking for**

Essential requirements of the role:
?
- Qualifications or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience working in injury management or workers compensation insurance
- Sound knowledge and understanding of workers compensation and injury management legislation
- Previous experience as an Allied Health Professional or Nurse or Return-to-work Coordinator and case management experience or equivalent experience in similar role

?
- An ability to manage multiple priorities and cases with legal timeframes with strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- An interest in taking innovative approaches to achieve positive outcomes, particularly for psychological claims
- An ability to establish new and innovative ways of working for the injury management team
- Strong communication skills to engage senior leaders and managers in the injury management process to ensure effective governance processes
- Experience with managing cases that have progressed to the Personal Injury Commission or Court, including Application to Resolve Disputes, Whole Person Impairment and Work Injury Damages claims, GIPA and Subpoenas
- Experience in leading projects and initiatives to achieve results in a diverse workforce
