Our client is a prominent Victorian RTO specialising in delivering quality training and education to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

We are seeking an Aboriginal mentor to support indigenous learners. You will have a key part in creating vibrant, healthy, self-determining Aboriginal communities.

You will need to possess:

- Connection to community and commitment to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and health
- Proven ability to build trusting relationships with learners and have advanced engagement skills that support all levels of classroom learning within a group
- Strong communication skills, both listening to and sharing lived experiences, life lessons learned and wisdom to assist indigenous cohorts in a learning environment
- Deadly organisational and problem-solving skills backed up by proficiency with administration processes and computer use to support the Educators and Coordinators
- A strong understanding of Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and their principles, and the ability to help learners grasp these concepts within a delivered course
- Knowledge of Student Management Systems and attention to detail

And with these skills and experience, you be paying it forward by supporting current students with:

- Social and emotional wellbeing (SEWB) support throughout the course delivery
- Aboriginal cultural support and mentoring throughout the course delivery
- Attendance support and assist students (in collaboration with their educator) to participate in tutoring
- Attending classes to get to know students and identify and respond to any needs that are arising that will remove barriers to completing each unit and in turn, achieving their chosen Qualification. These classes may be on-site in Melbourne or in the workplace.
- In classroom assistance and guidance with course content and assessment requirements
- Providing advice and support to enrolling students including the completion of Pre-Training Requirements and the Learning, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Skills assessments
- Undertaking community and student employer site visits, both metropolitan and regional Victoria
- Ongoing stakeholder engagement with employers and students
