**The Organisation**

UNSW Medicine & Health is a national leader in learning, teaching and research, with close affiliations to several of Australia’s finest hospitals, research institutes and health care organisations. With a strong presence at UNSW Kensington campus, the faculty have staff and students in teaching hospitals in Sydney as well as regional and rural areas of NSW including Albury/Wodonga, Wagga Wagga, Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie.

**Why this role matters**

Play a lead role within the UNSW Faculty of Medicine and Health (FMH) in supporting research using population-based linked health data. With the required data custodian and ethical approvals, the FMH currently holds several large-scale linked health data assets for research focused on topics including surgery and interventions, early life course, and medicine use and outcomes. FMH researchers are seeking to coordinate their access to new national linked data assets.

This position will function as the nexus between the FMH linked data assets and FMH researchers, ensuring the assets are appropriately governed and managed, and utilised to their fullest potential. The role will report into the Director, Centre for Big Data Research in Health, and will supervise any contractors who are engaged to support delivery of the accountabilities of the role.

**Who you are**:

- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience.
- Proven project management experience, with an in-depth understanding of the project life cycle and strategic development of project plans, objectives, and documentation.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully managing complex multidisciplinary projects in the research or public sector.
- Demonstrated experience in managing health related-research projects, particularly those using administrative health data or linked health data, will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated high-level knowledge and experience of Australia’s research ethics and governance frameworks, including policies, procedures, and guidelines relevant to the use of health-related data for research.
- Experience in establishing a governance framework will be highly regarded.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
- Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation.
- Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
