We are seeking a talented and experienced Lead Barista to join our team. As a Lead Barista, you will be responsible for creating exceptional coffee experiences for our members and guests while leading and supervising a small team of baristas/cafe team. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer service in our canteen.

The Lead Barista will work closely with our Community Teams to ensure excellent customer service and assist the preparation of coffee and other café food/beverages. The Barista will have a wide range of responsibilities to maintain the quality of our space and offerings. You will play an integral part in maintaining our fantastic customer service standards while providing high-level barista service to customers.

This role is Full Time (Monday-Friday) between the hours of 7:00am-4:30pm on a rotational shift basis. No weekend work.

**About you**

You will bring prior café/restaurant experience, preferably serving a multitude of functions as a barista or wait staff. Some skills we are looking for include:

- Similar barista/wait experience in a restaurant or café (highly desired)
- In-depth knowledge of coffee beans, brewing methods, and latte art techniques.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
- Ability to respond to various orders and queries from customers
- Familiarity with inventory management and point-of-sale systems is a plus.
- Motivated and looking to broaden experience in the food industry
- OPTIONAL: Experience working with La Marzocco coffee machines

**Key Responsibilities**

**CUSTOMER SERVICE/HOSPITALITY**
- Provide excellent customer service to new and existing members of the space
- Handle customer enquiries and provide general wait assistance
- Maintain the high customer service standards of The Commons

**CAFÉ**
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, ensuring consistent taste and quality.
- Lead, train, and supervise a team of baristas/cafe assistance, providing guidance and support.
- Monitor inventory levels and place orders to ensure an adequate supply of coffee beans, syrups, and other supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee shop, including equipment, Canteen area, and seating areas.
- Taking and preparing orders
- Adjusting grinder
- Upkeeping hygiene standards and maintain cleanliness of the space including preparation of tables, cleaning café equipment, handling rubbish accordingly and other tasks as required
- Ensure all machines and utensils are in pristine condition and reporting any faults
- Maintain a safe working environment for all staff and customers
