Key responsibilities
As First Nations Cultural Practice Manager you will specifically:

- Maintain a comprehensive overview of current reforms, developments and strategies impacting the department's commitments to First Nations peoples and identify solutions to emerging regional issues with regard to the disproportionate representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people in the youth justice system. Strategically lead the development and maintenance of effective regional partnerships with First Nations peoples, community controlled organisations, other government and non-government agencies including engagement with Traditional Owners and Mayors, to deliver positive outcomes for First Nations young people and their families. Represent the region in multi-sectorial forums and committees with regard to the advancement of improved outcomes for First Nations young people, families and communities and strategically engage with key partner agencies to create more effective service system responses. Lead the development and continuous improvement of cultural capability across the region, ensuring systems, practices and competencies are in place that enable optimal service delivery to First Nations young people and families. Together with the Regional Management Team, provide leadership in establishing mechanisms to support the retention, wellbeing and participation of regional First Nations staff and support the operation of the First Nations Action Groups within the region. Contribute to the development and implementation of the department's Path to Treaty action plan including leading readiness and engagement activities across the region. Provide advice to the Regional Director and regional leadership team on current practice, relevant policy implications, legislation and programs and the preparation of a range of written material including, executive correspondence, briefing material and information papers in relation to service delivery of youth justice services. Lead, coordinate, plan, implement and monitor progress of regional projects within tight timeframes to achieve desired outcomes. Work within a team environment to support the priorities of the region and contribute to the promotion of an accountable and equitable work environment as delegated by the Regional Director.
