About The Social Policy Group
The Social Policy Group (SPG) is a national body with specialist expertise in social policy, social and community cohesion, population diversity, gender equality, access and equity, community participation and inclusion, systems’ responsiveness, community outreach and engagement, and digital and multilingual communications. SPG is an umbrella organisation for a number of national bodies and initiatives, including SETSCoP, Migration Council Australia, Centre of Digital Wellbeing, Judicial Council on Cultural Diversity, Migrant and Refugee Health Partnership, and Harmony Alliance: Migrant and Refugee Women for Change, among others.
About the position
The successful applicant will be required to facilitate a range of projects with a focus on cross-sector strategies for addressing misinformation and disinformation, and their impact on the society and the democracy.
The position reports to the CEO.
Salary range: $100,000-$120,000 per annum plus superannuation
Primary responsibilities
- Facilitate a range of projects—including research—with a focus on public governance responses to misinformation and disinformation.
- Develop relevant policy advice, including preparing policy briefs and other material for internal and public distribution.
The mix of activities in this role varies in accordance with work priorities and can shift from week to week. Flexibility, versatility and resourcefulness are essential in our small team. Travel will be required at times to successfully perform this role.
Key selection criteria
Essential:
- A demonstrated understanding of evidence and practice with regard to misinformation and disinformation, their impact on the society and the democracy, and relevant public governance responses.
- At least two years of experience working in the area of public governance responses to misinformation and disinformation.
- Exceptional written communication skills are a must, including the ability to develop quality issues briefs, research and consultation reports, and other policy papers.
- Exceptional oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate with purpose and influence.
- Experience with stakeholder engagement and management.
- Proven analytical and research skills.
- Self-motivation and ability to deal with a high level of responsibility.
- Strong computer literacy skills.
- Adaptability and the ability to work collaboratively within a small team.
- Formal qualifications in a relevant field.
