**Why Your Role Matters**:
The **Head, Strategic Initiatives (RaSS)**, is a key leadership position within the Registrar & Student Services (RaSS) portfolio. This role interprets and executes portfolio and University strategies to foster innovation and enhance the student experience through the introduction of new technologies, overseeing strategic innovation projects including planning, design, and delivery, to transition of the newly introduced business processes or technologies from pilot to business-as-usual operations.

This role leads a team of embedded Student Services Business Partners (SSBP’s) located across UNSW Faculties and provides leadership and direction to deliver consistent and specialised student services across the student experience. The incumbent will also drive and lead a business process and service improvement team with improvement oversight across student services. The Head of Strategic Initiatives (RaSS) is responsible for delivering initiatives that contribute toward enhancing institutional capacity and capability, in alignment with the UNSW Operational Strategy.

**Who You Are**:

- Relevant tertiary qualification with substantial experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience.
- Strong, proven relationship management skills, with a demonstratable track record of fostering and maintaining successful relationships with a variety of stakeholders, managing service level agreements (or equivalent) and supporting successful organisational outcomes.
- Ability to improve customer service quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; establishing and communicating service metrics; monitoring and analysing results; implementing changes.
- Proven ability to provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders along with identifying critical activities and short/long term priorities for continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated success in managing complex projects with a primary focus on customer service and the achievement of key business objectives.
- Exceptional written communication skills including significant experience in writing high-quality analysis, submissions, reports, recommendations, viability papers and business cases.
- Significant leadership skills with demonstrated success in developing and fostering teamwork, mentoring individuals, and contributing positively as a team member to enable and ensure the achievement of team and organisational goals
