We work closely with government, industry, consumer, and stakeholder groups and are working in exciting areas such as circular economy, artificial intelligence, renewable energy and smart tech.

We are a 100 year old organisation that is experiencing an exciting period of growth and embarking on a number of new projects, which would see our current team of 300+ employees grow substantially throughout 2023.


About the role


The purpose of the Strategic Initiatives Officer role is to support initiatives to build SA's profile, brand, reputation and assist in developing a forward work program.

This role works with internal and external stakeholders to drive
SA's reach, relevance, and reputation by supporting the execution of strategic initiatives. The Strategic Initiatives Officer must develop a good understanding of the business, its objectives, strategies, and challenges. Initially, this role will focus on a strategic work program directed towards critical and emerging technologies. This may change as business priorities change.

What you'll do

  • Support the delivery of projects that are strategically important for SA
  • Act as the Secretariat for Strategic Initiative expert advisory groups
  • Collaborate with stakeholders in new areas of opportunity to seek to define new standardisation solutions in new areas or new ways
  • Build and maintain a network of stakeholders from industry, government, and the community
  • Act as a point of coordination between teams at SA on key strategic initiatives
  • Ensure industry and government are aware of key strategic activities
  • Share insights on industry and government trends, opportunities, and risks
  • Assist in the development of public submissions in priority areas
  • Undertake tasks as requested by the Head of Strategic Initiatives or Strategic Initiatives Manager

About you

  • Undergraduate degree
  • At least one (1) years' experience in a similar policy or government role.
  • Customer service and relationship management skills
  • Influences others to drive customer excellence across the business
  • Ensures all data quality and project proposal quality criteria are met
  • Engage, persuade, inspire, and enhance useful relationships
  • Manage and prioritise own work to meet set objectives
  • Organisational and time management skills
